Notes Update

Lately I’ve been occupied with research, so there still isn’t much new in the notes. In this update the referencing (which was shocking before) has been improved a little and there are some extra historical remarks in DCOQS and DTC. If you’re reading through any of the following notes you may benefit from several minor improvements:

  • Derived Categories (DTC)
  • Derived Categories of Sheaves (DCOS)
  • Derived Categories of Quasi-coherent Sheaves (DCOQS)
  • Matsumura (MAT)

Anybody interested in derived categories of sheaves should also check out Lipman’s notes which have been recently updated with new material.

    Got to this page via one blog that I read regularly. This is good stuff, and I intend to come here often. I am a grad student, and I’m interested in learning Algebraic Geometry and Algebraic Topology, although I do not work in Math.

    I had a quick question for you: Is there any available English translation of the EGA? Thanks!!

  2. Hi Vishnu.

    There is no comprehensive english translation of EGA that I’m aware of. If you are interested in a specific section I may be able to point you to an english reference.

    You can find various other resources (scans etc.) by following the links on my Blogroll.

    It’s not very helpful, but the usual answer to this question is: learn some basic French. I can’t speak French but I can read EGA!

  3. Hi – I am from Eastern Europe and I worship you from now on! Beilinson et al use without mentioning anything that in D(Ab) a complex is isom. to its cohomologies with 0 differentials. Please write some update on Postnikov systems. Thank you for all the work (I am being made to work completely ALONE on derived cat. without proper preparation which a torment for me – you kind of saved me)
